what to do

We are no longer a part of our old homeschool group because of circumstances, so I put out feelers for another group near where we live. Fingers crossed I waited to see what would happen.

First, I found out that the group that was supposed to meet in this area won't happen because now there is no one to run it, and they would need someone to do so. I won't volunteer for that do to how terrified I am of history repeating itself. Now I get an email from another group that a friend or two of mine are part of. I opened it and read it. Then after a few minutes, I picked my jaw up off the floor and read it again to be sure I read it correctly. Then, when my eyes quit burning, I asked my 13 year old to read it to tell me what she thought it said. She could not believe what she was seeing either. A homeschool group that charges, are you ready for this? $80 to $160 per class per child!!!!! Holy shit!! Yes, I said it: HOLY SHIT! We live on one income raising three children in a state that is damn near broke, and these people are charging that kind of money for a class. A class, meaning one. I was worried about shelling out around $150 for both girls, and if we went for this place, it could cost us between $480 and $840 for Si and Nana, not including Stephanie!!!! I don't know what the hell to do now. We want Si and Nana to be part of a homeschool group, but one I can never go back to and one I can never afford. Why does this shit keep happening to me?????????

On a brighter note, only 25 more days until El Paso :).

WOW......even though my daughters went (and are still going) to public schools, that sounds more like private school fees to me. Why don't you go at it on your own and enroll them in some other activity for their social outlet? May be a bit more work on your part, but definitely cheaper!! :)

It'll all be good. I know there is something out there, but at 2:40 in the morning, all hope seems lost lol. Debbie, I thought the same thing. I could send my kids to private education at those prices, but I am a homeschooler because I love it. My girls have *no* problem with social outlet, believe me!

sorry for your loss.....Homeschool Connections is pricey but it is not a co-op I must stress. It is professional based classes for homeschoolers. What about the group Tammy Smith was organizing? Too far?

No loss, just time to move on. I actually found one in Goodrich so things are going to be moving along :).
