a sailing meme

Went wandering around my blog list and found this on my friend Michelle's page. She said "go ahead" so I am :). I know...me doing a meme on sailing when I am scared of large open bodies of water...go figure...

November 10th was the anniversary of the day The Edmund Fitzgerald went down during a storm on Lake Superior. So, I (Michelle 'I', not me 'I') found this nautical theme meme to play around with... feel free to copy and paste it to your own blog!

Word association style:
Ocean: INDIAN
River: RIO GRANDE
Sea: SALT
Sailor: SEAMAN
Ship: TITANIC
Wave: STADIUM
Sand: CASTLES
Sail: BOAT
Navy: MILITARY
Deep: INTELLECTUAL

My family lived in northern Michigan when the Fitzgerald sank, and even though I was a small child, I remember the general mood and sorrow that followed the event.

I wonder how many folks would even know about it these days if not for Gordon Lightfoot's song? I still shiver when I hear it on the anniversary.

We love watching the freighters when hanging out on Lake Huron, and have had some close encounters on the Canadian side of Lake St. Clair when they pass through the channel. It's a whole new perspective LOL!
