gonna be a good day

Today, the sky is crystal clear and blue, which is nice after a day and a half of rain and clouds. It's a Tuesday, which means we survived Monday without a hitch. I'm gearing up to having a *whole* day to myself Saturday when Don and Steph go to Michigan Adventures, and Sierra and Savannah go over to their aunt's to spend the night. My pray-as-you-go devotional hit me in all the spots that I need to be hit in. It is going to be a good day.

Why the pic of the Mexican blanket? Well, that is how I feel right now. Every moment has its different colors, kind of like that book by Dr. Seuss, "My Many Colored Days".

The pinks are the fun, learning, laughing moments, like playing outside in the sun, tickling your children or laughing with your friends.

The greens and yellows are changes, be they good or bad. Moving on in life, like a birthday, or rites of passage, like teaching your almost 12 year old how to shave her legs (gulp lol).

The blues and whites are relaxation times. Time to pray, mediate, read, just sit and listen to the world around you, focusing on cutting out the negative to listen to the positive.

The darks are for just that, dark moments. Feeling sad, a misunderstanding, lonliness, maybe a little confusion.

I want you to notice something. In this blanket, there aren't many of the dark ones. They are scattered here and there, mixed in between the pinks, greens, yellows, whites and blues. The darks happen, but only occasionally, and are some how muted out by the others. We too often tend to hold on to the dark moments, but look at all the brightly colored moments we lose when we do that.

Today, be a Mexican blanket. Wrap yourself up in those pinks and blues and yellows and greens, and gently fold the blanket up, just enough to hide those darks and let the colors shine through.

May God bless you with many colors in your life, and grant you the ability to fold them up when you must.

It's gonna be a good day.
