This was in an email from my middle daughters' school:
An update on building changes: Oxford Bridges High School, the alternative education program, will be housed at Oxford Middle School for the 2012-13 school year. The program will function as a “school within a school,” entirely separate from the middle school and Oxford Middle School students. The program will be using rooms 200 and 202 on the second floor by the gym. To help ensure that the middle school and alternative program function as two entirely separate schools, hall supervision and security will be in place at all times. Oxford Bridges High School is a highly successful alternative program that has experienced a temporary displacement for this school year. It is anticipated that the program will be established in its permanent location for 2013-14.
Okay.
An "alternative education program". I worked as a substitute in El Paso for the alternative high school. They weren't pregnant teens trying to do what is right, or kids who just had a hard time in the classroom. These were students who had extremely violent pasts, drug addiction, criminal backgrounds. I witnessed a fellow teacher being stabbed in the neck with a pencil because he, in the cholos' words, "looked at me the wrong way ese!"
These young people will be in the same school with my 7th grader.
But hey, like it says in red, they will have SECURITY.

Homeschooling is looking good again...
Yes, I'm bitching a lot. Just wait until I start on the "paperless" registration that you have to have ready even though you cannot get on line to get the forms because they are having "issues", and registration is in TWO FUCKING DAYS.
*sigh* I'm sorry.

Jeez, you're right, home schooling sounds pretty good.
Look into it but it may be the virtual academy which is mostly homeschooled kids.
Pan, I have and it isn't lol. Besides, how many homeschool kids get, or need, their own security guards lol?
We've had homeschool friends in the virtual academy. They came and went with the usual students. These kids are coming in later and leaving early with security to be sure they have no interaction with the students.
