I haven't been around much, and for good, albeit rotten reasons.
This is, in essence, how I looked...
the moment I saw that my computer had decided, quite on its own, to reset back to factory settings.I never said, "Sure, go ahead and screw me and wipe my hard drive clean as a whistle!"
It did it all by its lonesome.
Know what that means?
It means, boys and girls...
everything...
music...
pictures...
story I have been writing for months now...
EVERYTHING...
is fucking...
G O N E.
Most of the music and pics will be retrievable because Don apparently backed-up most of it on an external hard drive. But the story is still gone, along with every saved link I have ever had.
Nope, not happy.
On a different note, my girls are all gone to Arkansas to visit their aunt until Thursday. Have any clue how weird it is to have *all* the girls gone at the same exact time for the first time in 15 years? Very weird, let me tell you. They are having fun, but are finding it a might strange to be gone so far from home without either Don or myself in tow. The silence is eerie and the dogs keep looking for them which is funny. It'll all be good. Let's hear it for nekked time :).
Two movie recommendations:
Agora: a movie set during the rise of Christianity in historical Roman Egypt, and the struggle for a brilliant female philosopher and astronomer, Hypatia of Alexandria (played by Rachel Weisz) to hold on to what she believes and not be forced into a man's religion. Amazing movie.
Creation: the story of the life of Charles Darwin (played by Paul Bettis). I have always had trouble understanding the craziness of Darwin's opinions and beliefs, but this movie kind of gives you a background as to why he thought how he did and how he came to draw his own conclusions on life and its origins.
Be aware that these movies will make you think very deeply about what, why and how you believe.
I guess that is all. I'm tired. Need sleep.

Wow. Sry to hear about the computer. That totally blows. I've had it happen to me and now I back everything (I want to keep) up on a flash drive. - My boys are all leaving in the fall and I don't know what I'll do.. And I don't mean just leaving for a visit. They're off to college and totally moving out! My daughter did it years ago and that ripped my heart out! (I still have not forgiven her for leaving me with these crazy boys!) I am so torn between being happy for their freedom and mine and wanting them to never leave.. The "Mister" however can't wait until we are empty nesters so we too can run around naked! Lol. Scary thought. - I'm glad to see you back on and I'm still catching up on your posts. :) - Did you ever get the dish towel????
Sorry to hear about the disappearance of your story. I don't back up as often as I should, but I have gotten better lately.
I'm a new follower of your blog, but I just wanted to comment because I know the heartache of losing big parts of LIFE to a hard drive. I'd had twenty years worth of a music collection on a computer and (against my better judgment) I sold the actual CDs just because I'd needed the money. I also (used to) write fiction/short stories, etc. I had about 15 years worth of that stuff too. You can guess what happened next. That was in '08... and I've re-collected 75% of the music, but there is some that was so rare I'll never in a million years get it back and of course the writing is totally gone. I'm probably showing my age here but in a way I miss the days of cassettes and CDs, and a three subject notebook and a pack of Bics. ;-) Anyway I look forward to more posts from you.

I'm sorry about your computer issues, I know what pain on the rear end that can be.
And I'm adding both movies to our to-be-watch list, which by the way is loooooooonnnnnnnggggg, but AGORA sounds awesome!
