for the "i love horror but not bloody horror" movie friends :)

Believe it or not, I don't just live for blood and guts. No no no. I love the make you check under your bed, creepy skin crawling, what was that noise type of horror to. Where can you find such beauties? Simple: Asian Tartan Extreme. I first found "One Missed Call" and it was love from there. These are the types of films that the U.S. tries to duplicate but always fails miserably, except maybe in the first "The Ring" and "The Grudge" movies, of which the sequels stunk. Here are a few to check out:

The Red Shoes: Loosely based on the Hans Christian Anderson book, a pair of shoes take over the owner with no good results.

Ringu: Where the idea for "The Ring" came from. Bits of this are different than the U.S. version, but that is to be expected. Much more cerebral for sure.

Oldboy: Kidnapped man seeks revenge on those who tortured him.

Ju-on: Original form of "The Grudge". FANTASTIC MOVIE!!!!! Even the sequels are awesome, but only the originals.
Infection: You don't have enough hand sanitizer to clean off this germ.

Dark Water: Again, the U.S. tried and landed on its ass in this remake. Rent-controlled doesn't always mean ghost free...

Cello: Strange events surround a talented cellist after a car crash. Who is the real victim?

Just trust me, okay. Give them a try. You won't be disappointed!

I have always used the close captioning on any movie I watch (hazard of being a sign language interpreter lol), so subtitles work just fine for me :). Give "Oldboy" a try, even if you aren't into foreign films.

I took my oldest daughter to see "the Grudge" when it came out at the theaters. Not so far into the movie my hair was standing on end!! I watched it all but that movie definitely had a high creep factor! The surround sound made it all the more creepy! I heard the original was creepier, but I have never seen it.

Try watching "The Audition". That J-horror flick made me want to chuck my cookies, even now as I think about it. It will make your skin crawl right off your body and run for the hills! **ShUdDeR**
