for the week 24.8.09

For Today...
24 August, 2009
`
Outside my Window...
It is 55 degrees and there is quite a chill in the air. I am not complaining, because I know this means that Autumn is right around the corner, my favorite time of year.
`
I am thinking...
How things are changing as always. Life is moving so incredibly fast...I just hope I am letting my family, and me, experience the best of it.
`
From the learning rooms...
I know before I said that this section would become null and void when the girls went to school, but I have changed my mind about that (see, more changes lol). This is going to become *my* section, my learning time, what I am up to and, well, changing lol. I hope to create new soldered art pieces, read my theology books, delve into some new jewerly types, oh heck, who knows. But no one ever said this was just for the kids, right?
`
I am thankful for...
Family and friends. We went to a retirement party for Don's Uncle Bobby, his grandmother's daughters husband...wow, that was almost hard to remember. 60 people came to congratulate Bobby on 44 years of service to GM and his time as a champion Targhee sheep farmer. It was amazing to see all those people, more than half actual *family*, come to celebrate a persons' life. My family, save for my hubs and the girls, are all gone now, have been for many many years, so seeing all the support and love from family like that made me cry. I never ever want my girls to know what it feels like to be alone, and I know that Don's family will make sure that never happens.
`
From the kitchen...
More coffee...stat!
`
I am wearing...
Flannel pj pants, Don's shirt, old green sweater and pink fuzzie socks
`
I am reading...
"Chamomille Mourning" by Julie Childs
`
I am hoping...
That Don feels better soon. He took a turn for the ick last night :(.
`
I am creating...
Lots of stuff in my head to be shared later
`
I am hearing...
The crows and crickets outside, the fan on my computer
`
Around the house...
some pick up
`
One of my favorite things...
Laughing with Don's, my, cousins, Patti and Traci, short timers list for El Paso...8 days!!! :)
`
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week...
Treadmilling, finalizing a few things for my trip, laundry, library, whatever else seems fit to come up
`
A Picture Thought I Am Sharing With You:
A picture of a cathedral in El Paso. I just thought it was so pretty...

Has anyone else noticed the change in the air, the trees, the way the sunlight hits the ground? I have. It was sudden and slow at the same time. You can feel autumn in the air. The morning is a bit crisper, the shadows are a bit longer, and if you close your eyes, you can smell that autumn scent...if you are an autumn lover, you know what I mean. Maybe it's just me...maybe not...

I realize at my age I am very fortunate to have both of my parents (including step parents) and a good deal of my extended family in my life. Your comment about family reminded me that they will not always be with me. I know I sometimes take for granted they are here, but I really do appreciate how much they have all been, and continue to be, a part of my life. Thanks for the gentle reminder my friend. :)

Hello fellow Autumn lover! :)

Sometimes it's hard to see it coming with our 90+ days, but the mornings have been wonderfully cool and darker. I almost reached for the quilt at the bottom of the bed this morning.

Hope Don feels better soon...and you make it through the first week of school.
