the prayer of St. Patrick

My lovely American-landed-in-Scotland friend, Stacey, from  http://alambinthefield.blogspot.com  posted the prayer of St. Patrick and the picture on her blog, and it is so beautiful that I wanted to share it with all of you.  Thank you Stacey...I love you :)!

Christ to shield me today
Against poison, against burning,
Against drowning, against wounding,
So that there may come to me abundance of reward.
Christ with me, Christ before me, Christ behind me,
Christ in me, Christ beneath me, Christ above me,
Christ on my right, Christ on my left,
Christ when I lie down, Christ when I sit down, Christ when I arise,
Christ in the heart of every man who thinks of me,
Christ in the mouth of everyone who speaks of me,
Christ in every eye that sees me,
Christ in every ear that hears me.
I arise today
Through a might strength, through the invocation of the Trinity,
Through belief in the threeness,
Through confession of the oneness,
Of the Creator of Creation.

Hi Penny,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY! And Happy St Patrick's Day, too. We are just sitting on the sofa, stuffed from the colcannon we had at dinner. Yum! Thanks for sharing St Patrick's prayer. I have always loved the Breastplate of St Patrick. Hope this finds you well and the tiniest bit less hating MI! Are you anywhere near Jackson? I was born there! Amazing. And my sister still lives there. Small world...

Thanks for posting that! We studied St. Patrick this year in MOH2 and he was quite the Christ-follower!

Love the Icon! It's a beautiful one. FYI: St. Patrick also used the shamrock to teach the concept of the trinity to the Irish people as well.

Hugs!
M

Thinking I need to drag you to my church sometime! Think you'll like it.

That was beautiful. I enjoyed reading it. You know what else, it would be a great tool to teach prepositions to children. I think I'll put it in my keep file.

Love you. PENELOPE. Ooops, don't hit me. Oh, and I do answer to Mikey or Mickey, but never Mike. That's my ex husband's name. LOL
