friday fill in and i'm just saying...

1. The last band I saw live was Newsboys, back when Peter Furler was still a member. *sigh* I miss him :(.
2. What I look forward to most on Thanksgiving is
cooking for my family.
3. My Christmas/holiday shopping is
easy since I am not a freak like some parents.
4. Thoughts of
Texas fill my head.
5. I wish I could wear
a size 8, even a 10 would work.
6. Bagpipes
are a really cool musical instrument. I'm weird, I like the music.
7. And as for the weekend, tonight I'm looking forward to
watching "Up", tomorrow my plans include scrapboooking all day and Sunday, I want to feel better!

Here is the "I'm just saying" segment of today's show.

Ready?

Here it is...
I hate school. I fucking hate public school. Hate it hate it hate it. Especially right now. My girls feel very yucky right now: sore throat, sniffy nose, bit of a cough, but no temperature and no throwing up. So, off to school they go. They miss too much, they get penalized, miss work, get bad grades and I get label a bad mom. At least with homeschooling, they would get all their work done, but still be in their own home, able to lay down, take a nap and try to feel better. These public school workers have no clue how to help a child if they don't feel well either. A few weeks ago, Savannah developed a 102.5 temp, an ear ache, and had trouble staying awake while at school (she left home feeling fine). When she told them, they said "it's just the wind", and sent her to her class without contacting me. Obviously, you can't count on them to have a brain and go "wow, this kid is *hot*! Better call mom." Even Savannah's teacher put in her planner "Savannah had a hard time staying awake in class today." Wow, then why not, oh, I don't know, *ask her* what is wrong, put your hand on her forehead, *CALL ME*, something?? Stupid assholes.

This was their choice, to give the public school world a try. School wise, they truly are doing great, but it is so restrictive and constrictive it is ridiculous. I miss having them here with me, but I am not going to box them up and not let them experience the world as a whole. This doesn't mean that I don't get to bitch about it a lot. Public school in and of itself isn't evil at all, but the manky gits who run it, well, that is another story... No, this is not a good enough reason to pull them out...*yet*. We shall see... I'm just pissed and can't swallow...

Oh, and by the way...guess what...I can put down public school workers because I was one, save for one difference: I *CARED*. So there...

By the way part two: I don't care if I seem to contradict myself or anything. I'm sick too, so I can.

So, there you go. Public school and it's drones are shit, being sick is shit, living in Michigan is shit. The word for the day is "shit" brought to you by the letter "S" and the color brown.

Bagpipes are an awesome instrument! What's the definition of a freaky parent at Christmas?

Love your "I'm just saying" segment...

I think "common sense" is lacking in the educational world today. I agree, it's good for your kids to see the entire world and how it works... BUT, I have a real problem with people who are educating society and lack common sense, creative thinking (outside the box), and empathy.
What can they possibly offer our children and their God-given talents?

Happy Friday Penny,

Pam@ A freaky parent is one of those who spend spend spend, go into debt, are willing to kill someone for the last Elmo doll and has to one-up every other parent she or he knows. For some reason, I can't see you as one of those lol.

Mich@ it will be interesting to see what the girls want to do next year.

Wow.... "manky" and "git" in one sentence! There's a place for you over here, Penny!

Bagpipes...they lose their appeal after you hear them over and over and over and over and over... but I still kinda like them, too.

I can bash public school, too, because I taught in Florida for many, many years. Michele is right. No common sense. And frankly, there are just too darned many kids in one classroom, and how the heck is a teacher supposed to keep track of everything?? If I had kids, I would be homeschooling, for sure, and this is me, an ex-teacher. It's just too darned hard out there anymore. Oh, for the "B is For Betsy" days!

And no.. I can't see you or Pamela as a freaky parent, thank the good Lord!

There are some real boneheads in the public school system. My personal favorite is to punish all for the actions of one. That mentality just fries me!! Hope you feel better soon.

At our district the first thing they do if a kid says they don't feel good is send them to the nurse and she takes their temperature. How tough is that? If there is no fever, they come back to class. Many kids are crying wolf because of all the H1N1 brew ha ha but still you have to be careful. I think they're doing the best they can at least at our district.
However, I whole heartedly agree the school day is TOO LONG and the time is not all used as productively as it could be.
That's what happens when government mandates are forced upon them.
No situation is perfect that's for sure.

Hi Penny,

I hope you recover from your illness real soon. You know what? Honey with two lemons slightly microwaved is a great throat soother. I got my h1n1 last week; I am happy becuase I am at risk.

As for the Shit... they will continue to be that. It amazes me also how a teacher see a child behave in a curious manner, and not attempt to speak to the child to see what may be wrong. Based on all the virus in the news, it should be a no brainer... but you are right.

I have something for you: click here to get your award...

See you soon,

Jesse
